CMCP - Certified Medical Coder Professional
The Certified Medical Coder Professional (CMCP) exam is administered an by Medical Coding & Healthcare Compliance. By passing the CMCA certification examination, you are designated as a health care professional in Medical coding and auditing.

Certification Eligibility:
Eligible candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

Education: complete at least 100 hours of online or classroom training for medical coding and/or auditing

Experience: Minimum of two (2) years related coding and/or auditing experience

Credential: Hold an active MCHC credential OR a credential from other certifying organization plus one (1) year of coding and/or auditing experience.
Exam Details:
The CMCP is a 4.5 hour timed exam.
Section 1 is 2 hours and Section 2 is 2.5 hours.

What score is required to pass the CMCP?
To pass the CMCP exam, an overall score of 80% or higher must be achieved. A combined score of section 1 and section 2 will be used to calculate the overall score for certification. To pass the exam and obtain certification, 100 correct questions must be answered.
What is required to maintain certification?
In addition to continued membership with MCHC, 12 CEUs per renewal year is required. CEUs are submitting annually and can be obtained from most major healthcare administrative organizations, associations and/or medical societies. Proof of CEUs should be retained for one year after renewal. CEUs obtained from non-MCHC events should include certificate, agenda, and proof of registration.
